American wedding, portrait & travel photographer, Emmarie Jackson talks about a colorful hidden gem of a place in Downtown Fort Worth.
With my shooting style being timeless, elegant and classic, I needed to find a place for an engagement session that would suit my style of shooting but at the same time, be a good fit for rocker-punk styled couple, Marissa and Talmage.
I've heard of Downtown Fort-Worth being a great place, but I didn't know any specifics. So I had to do some research. I found this ice cream shop people recommended called "Melt Ice Cream" in the heart of Downtown Fort Worth, and that it had a beautiful yellow wall in the parking lot. So, I told them to meet there.
Once we met there, we saw so many beautiful murals and buildings that made for a great backdrop. There were brick buildings with vines, tall glass windows, a bike rental station in front of a colorful mural across from Melt Ice Cream. I was in heaven, as the mural perfectly matched Marissa's blue hair. There was even a plant store that was disguised as a silver RV. And if you walk down a couple of blocks further, you would find a green moss like wall.
I never thought of this place as a hidden gem. Just be sure to stay within Melt Ice cream limits, because if you go further, you might get lost in a bad part of town, as I've witnessed on my way out. But, this place is definitely a must if you're wanting to do a session in Downtown Fort Worth.
